Introduction

YardBuddy ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

Data We Collect

YardBuddy is designed with privacy in mind and does not require an account or login. Your yardage data and practice sessions remain on your device unless you choose to back them up to iCloud (see below). To help us understand how the App is used and to improve features, we collect limited usage analytics.

Specifically, we collect event information such as screens viewed, features used, basic device information (for example, device model, operating system version, and app version), timestamps, and general app interaction events. We do not collect the content of your yardages, practice session entries, contacts, photos, or precise location.

Local Data Storage

All data you enter into the App, including your golf club yardage information and practice session data, is stored locally on your device. The App does not transmit your data to our servers or any third-party services we control.

iCloud Backup

The App offers the ability to save backups of your data to iCloud. This feature is optional and can be enabled or disabled within the App settings. When enabled, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's iCloud service. This data is encrypted and stored according to Apple's privacy policies and terms of service.

We do not have access to your iCloud backups. The data stored in iCloud is accessible only to you through your Apple ID, and is subject to Apple's privacy policies, not ours. You can disable iCloud backup at any time through the App settings or by managing your iCloud storage preferences.

Data Transmission and Analytics

The App does not transmit your yardage or practice content to our servers. However, it does send usage analytics events (for example, which screens are opened and which features are used) to our analytics provider to help us improve the App.

We use PostHog to process these analytics events. Analytics data may include a device-generated identifier, device and OS information, app version, coarse information derived from IP address (for example, approximate region), timestamps, and event metadata. We use this data solely to understand product usage and improve performance and reliability. We do not use analytics data for advertising or for tracking you across other apps and websites, and we do not sell your data.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your data. You can delete all data stored by the App by uninstalling the App from your device. Your data may also be deleted if you delete the App's data through your device settings.

If you have enabled iCloud backup, you can delete your backup data by disabling iCloud backup in the App settings or by managing your iCloud storage through your device settings. Deleting local data will not automatically delete data stored in iCloud unless you specifically delete it through iCloud storage management.

Analytics data is processed and stored by our analytics provider. Retention and deletion of analytics data are governed by the provider's policies. If you would like help limiting analytics collection, please contact us at support@yardbuddy.app.

Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple's iCloud service for optional backup functionality. When you enable iCloud backup, your data is stored and processed by Apple according to their privacy policies. We do not have access to or control over data stored in iCloud. For more information about how Apple handles your data, please review Apple's Privacy Policy.

For analytics, the App uses PostHog. PostHog processes usage data on our behalf to provide insights into how the App is used. PostHog processes this information in accordance with its own privacy policy. We configure analytics to collect only what we need to operate and improve the App and do not use analytics for targeted advertising.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
